At the November 17th high school Model United Nations conference at Macalester College, it was impressive to see the amount of knowledge the delegates have over the subject matter. At the conference, there were several councils that debate several current issues affecting the world today, such as the issue of access to clean and safe drinking water. Students debated on how to use water more efficiently and how the international community should respond to the rising challenge.
There were several pages in attendance, including a couple international students, most notably, Artiecia, a Malaysian international student, who wants to work for the United Nations someday. She thinks MUN is important because it fosters respect and encourages diversity. Overall, the pages stressed the incredible skill and dedication it takes to be in MUN. They also talked about how much their public speaking skills grew during their time in MUN.
